Grandparent Rights
Grandparents sometimes find they are no longer welcome in their grandchildrens' lives when a child's parents are separated or divorced, one parent dies, or parental rights are terminated. Under Nevada law, grandparents and great-grandparents may get a court order allowing them visitation with their grandchildren if it is in the child's best interest. This is possible even when a child is placed for adoption—as long as the grandparent filed a petition before parental rights were terminated. At Trent, Tyrell & Associates, we help resolve disputes over grandparents' rights and ensure the child's interests are protected. We are familiar with all aspects of family laws in Las Vegas.
Post-judgment Modifications
Circumstances change. Modification is the legal process used to make changes to parenting plans and child support when there has been a substantial change of circumstances. Modifications can be sought when necessary and in the best interest of the child. Circumstances that may require modifications include:
- A relocation by one parent to another state affecting custody or visitation
- A change in economic circumstances requiring a modification to the amount of child or spousal support amount(s)
